Interim managers assume operational responsibility and are focused on becoming effective quickly. This model differs from traditional IT consulting in that decision-making and leadership responsibility actually lies with the external manager.
This need often arises in three scenarios: when an IT executive unexpectedly leaves or is unable to perform their duties, during complex transformation projects that require close oversight, and in companies that need IT leadership expertise only on a temporary or project-specific basis. Compared to hiring an IT executive on a permanent basis, there are no long-term obligations such as social security contributions, onboarding costs, or severance risks.
